Building clean, reliable systems with a focus on usability and security.

I’m Riley O’Shea — a Computer Science graduate from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs with a focus on cybersecurity and software engineering. I build maintainable applications, automate high-impact workflows, and ship practical solutions that improve accessibility and reliability.

About

Alumni from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (B.A. Computer Science). Specializing in cybersecurity and software engineering, with a track record of building secure, practical tools that improve accessibility and operational efficiency.

What I do

  • Design and deliver maintainable software products with an emphasis on reliability and security.
  • Automate repetitive technical workflows (auditing, reporting, and systems validation) to reduce manual effort.
  • Document processes clearly to enable consistent operations and faster onboarding.

Highlights

  • Student Employee of the Year Nominee (2024–2025) at UCCS.
  • Built a Python-based caption auditing tool integrated into the university LMS.
  • Currently pursuing CompTIA Security+ (expected June 2026).

Experience

Hands-on IT and accessibility work focused on end-user support, automation, and compliance.

Assistive Technology Lab Assistant

UCCS Information Technology

Jul 2023 – Dec 2025 Colorado Springs, CO
  • Engineered a Python-based auditing tool integrated into the university LMS to verify closed captioning availability, improving auditing efficiency and accessibility support.
  • Designed and maintained Windows images for assistive technology lab systems with specialized software (JAWS, NVDA, Dragon Naturally Speaking, Read & Write) to expand access to academic accommodations.
  • Administered and optimized limited-availability software licences, ensuring continuous access for registered students and minimizing service contention.
  • Delivered specialized training and technical support for accessibility tools and general computer support for registered students.
  • Provide on demand support for technical issues within the university testing center to ensure consistent service and minimize downtime.
  • Evaluated and tested academic and assistive technology software for accessibility compliance, assisting with configuration to meet individual student needs.
  • Authored step-by-step guides and FAQs for assistive technology workflows, accelerating onboarding and reducing repeat support requests.
  • Served as Digital Accessibility Student Advisor, collaborating on campus audits to align with WCAG 2.1 guidelines.
Recognition: Nominee — University of Colorado Colorado Springs Student Employee of the Year (2024–2025)
